All the best to you all.Posted on Keith EadieTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Shaikat and team did an excellent job polishing a room floor and touching up minor repairs. Very professional and fast.Posted on YREN BUTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Good, high quality work. Pricing is fair, esp for a large 250sqft deck. Sanding was thorough and even, especially around the edges/corners, and using proper equipment. Sawdust was regularly vacuumed up and work area was kept neat and tidy. First photo is of the deck before work - see 13 years old, peeling varnish and some sun/rain damaged timber at the edge of the balcony. Second photo is after work was completed - deck has been evenly and well sanded. Several coatings of varnish has been evenly applied. I dont usually bother to give google reviews but MCL’s work deserves one. Highly recommended!Posted on Sue YapTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. MCL did a good job in parquet vanishing. Shaikat was very prompt in responding and answering my questions. The worker worked hard grinding & varnishing parquet withstanding the strong vanish smell. Not an easy job.Posted on George LeeTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Very personalized service by Shaikat. Helped to rectify and issue with bloated parquet. Returned to ensure that job was correctly completed.Posted on Ann LowTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We are very pleased with the outcome of the timber floor varnishing. The workmanship was good, and the finished flooring has significantly improved the appearance of our workspace. They completed the job within the agreed timeline while maintaining a clean and organised work area. Highly recommended!
Repairing Parquet Flooring - Water seepage
When parquet flooring is damaged due to water seepage, it can lead to various issues that compromise its appearance, structural integrity, and functionality. Here’s a breakdown of how water seepage affects parquet:
- Swelling and Warping: Parquet flooring consists of small wood pieces arranged in a pattern. When water seeps into the flooring, these wood pieces absorb moisture, causing them to swell. As a result, the individual tiles may warp or buckle, leading to uneven surfaces and gaps between tiles.
- Discoloration: Water damage often causes discoloration of the wood. The affected areas may darken or develop stains, altering the appearance of the flooring. This discoloration can be particularly noticeable in lighter-colored wood parquet.
- Decay and Rot: Prolonged exposure to water can lead to wood decay and rot. As moisture penetrates the wood fibers, it creates an environment conducive to fungal growth. This can cause the wood to deteriorate, weaken, and eventually disintegrate if left untreated.
- Mold and Mildew Growth: Moisture and humidity resulting from water seepage provide ideal conditions for mold and mildew growth. These fungi not only detract from the appearance of the flooring but also pose health risks to occupants, especially those with respiratory issues or allergies.
- Structural Damage: Water damage can compromise the structural integrity of the parquet flooring. In severe cases, it may affect the subfloor or underlayment, leading to additional issues such as sagging or sagging of the floor.
- Odor: Water-damaged parquet flooring can emit musty odors due to mold, mildew, or decaying wood fibers. These odors can be persistent and unpleasant, affecting the overall indoor air quality.

Parquet Floor Repair
Parquet flooring, like any other type of wood flooring, is susceptible to wear and tear over time. Scratches are one of the most common forms of damage that can occur on parquet floors. Here’s an explanation of why scratches happen and what can be done to prevent and repair them:
- Causes of Scratches:
- 1. Foot Traffic: Regular foot traffic, especially from shoes with hard or abrasive soles, can cause scratches on the surface of parquet flooring.
- 2. Furniture Movement: Moving furniture across the floor without protective pads underneath can leave scratches and scuff marks.
- 3. Pets: Pets’ nails can scratch the surface of the parquet floor, particularly if they run or play on it frequently.
- 4. Dirt and Grit: Sand, dirt, and other abrasive particles brought in from outside can act like sandpaper, causing scratches when walked upon.
- Prevention:
- Use Area Rugs and Mats: Place area rugs or mats in high-traffic areas to protect the parquet floor from scratches.
- Felt Pads: Attach felt pads to the legs of furniture to prevent them from scratching the floor when moved.
- Trim Pets’ Nails: Regularly trim your pets’ nails to minimize the risk of scratching the floor.
- Clean Regularly: Keep the floor clean by sweeping or vacuuming regularly to remove dirt and debris that can cause scratches.
- Repair:
- Fillers and Touch-Up Pens: For minor scratches, you can use wood fillers or touch-up pens that match the color of your parquet flooring to fill in the scratches.
- Sanding and Refinishing: For deeper scratches or extensive wear, sanding and refinishing the floor may be necessary. This process involves sanding down the surface to remove scratches and applying a new finish to restore its appearance.
- Professional Help: In cases where the scratches are severe or if you’re unsure about how to repair them yourself, it’s best to seek the assistance of a professional flooring contractor who can assess the damage and recommend the appropriate repair methods.
By taking preventive measures and addressing scratches promptly, you can help prolong the lifespan and appearance of your parquet flooring. Regular maintenance and care are essential to keep your floors looking their best for years to come.

Parquet water damage
Parquet water damage is one of the most common issues homeowners face in Singapore due to the humid climate and occasional leaks or spills. When moisture seeps into wooden parquet flooring, it can cause swelling, warping, discoloration, and even mold growth if left untreated. You might notice tiles lifting, a spongy feel underfoot, or dark stains spreading across the surface—these are clear signs of water damage. The key is early intervention: minor damage can often be repaired by drying, sanding, and resealing, while more severe cases may require replacing affected tiles and rebonding the area. Acting quickly not only prevents further deterioration but also saves significant repair costs while preserving the natural beauty of your parquet floor.
